Always reminds me of my childhood days

Whenever I look at this picture, it reminds me of my childhood days, where I used to play, work in field, swim and enjoy nature’s beauty.
The memories and moments spent here are always memorable to me
It looks more beautiful in the evening because of the height of this place.
From the peak, sitting on rocky hill one can enjoy natures's blushing beautiful evening during the sunset.

Savadatti Yellamma

The goddess Renuka-Yellamma is a very famous deity.
Yeallamma is been worshiped mostly in south India and has large number of devotees.
The Temple is located in the midst of the mountains.
Few attractive places are located around here are River malaprabha and Navilu-thirth (a reservoir built across the river malaprabha) adds flavor to this place.

Earlier only women had been worshipping and were the devotees of this goddess.
Those were called as Jogamma.
There was a system called devadasi, whichi was being heavily practiced at here.
Though the system was illegal, in the name of offering service to goddess as a devadasi they would force themselves into prostitution after the conversion. Lot of tribal and scheduled cast women were been ultimate victims of this diseased system.
Now Government has taken all necessary steps to eradicate this ailing system. There is an awareness created in surrounding places through advertisements and also strict actions have been taken to counter the bad practices at this place.
The temple administration now is under government’s control.

Even today the rituals performed here are bit unusual.
Some of the devotee pretends like as if the goddess enacts through them.

Reservoir

Malaprabha Dam (navilu theerth)- A reservoir constructed near to Savadatti in Belgaum district of Karnataka State.
This DAM was engineered and architected by SG Balekundri. He was an irrigation expert of Karnataka State.
Nature has its own kind of contribution in building this DAM as there were series of hills helped to construct it easily with less expenditure. It has two water channels named Right bank canal and Left bank canal.
Large numbers of Peacocks were living here in this place. So the place name is still referred as Navilu theerth.
